How can I become less hateful and hard on myself?

I was emailing a friend about something similar and it always seems like all I can see in me is bad, faults, flaws, and failures, whereas I am so accepting and kind to others.

It's true that I have an entirely different set of expectations on myself than I do others. Examples?

I lied to my therapist

I lied to my psychiatrist about something that bothered me, because I was afraid that he'd just be looking in my eyes the entire silence. That happend before and I felt like I was dying on the inside. Now I feel like he has the wrong idea about me and how I think. Should I tell him the truth about it, because he might ask my why I lied and I don't want to tell him that I don't want him to look at me like that.. I don't know what to do
