I develop phobias so easily

I would greatly appreciate it if someone takes the time to read this and answer my question thoughtfully. I have always wondered if my condition has a specific name and if i can do something about it. I seem to develop phobias when i get into confrontation with others and when i keep on losing in a competition. For example, when i was little, i always got into a physical confrontation against my classmates. I initially felt no fear confronting them but eventually i started getting anxiety attacks whenever they challenged me to fight them (I never got beat up by anyone although I would say tha

Retraction reaction redux

I apologize for the long time between posts. Things have been busy and I hope to have more for you soon. In the meantime, I wanted to toss out something to tide you over.

A recent Nature editorial extends the previous discussion that began in the AP post "Retraction reaction", concerning the retraction of a paper from the lab of Nobel Prize winner Linda Buck. The editorial touches on the issue of a significant weakness in the scientific process. Namely that save for a select few in the "know", the community-at-large rarely learns of what went wrong in a study, leading to its eventual retraction. This is indeed a concern and an on-going problem.

The Benefits of Napping

If there was a contest for napping, I'd take first place. I can nap anywhere, anytime. It's one of my many talents. Even my cat's in awe of my skills.Just about everyday around 2:00 pm, I can be found catnapping in a chair, at my desk or if I'm lucky, in a sunny spot somewhere.
